Maybe it’s because I was born in the South, but last year Random House asked me to design a book of recipes for Speights Brewery. Or maybe its because I’d work for beer. Thanks to Random for the brief, Aaron McLean for the great shots, and Maz for laying it all out while I was cycling around Europe. While I was doing that, someone else was designing a book about Pinot Noir. Now that would have been trouble.

Well that’s not exactly true, but the new designed bike kit for the WheelWorks racing team is finished and being worn with shaven-legged style all over town. Now we just have to work on a Colnago bike sponsorship deal to match the uniform.

For the last 12 months I’ve been working with Al Brown and some talented illustrators on a series of t-shirt designs. Here’s a sample. Illustrations by Blair Sayer and Mike Yule. Printing by Brazen. Ideas courtesy of Central Otago pinot. Available from Al’s site, Hurricane or Miss Wong in Wellington.
