We also love coffee at Gas. Next to two-stroke for the office scooter and something with a little more body for the guzzi, coffee is our fuel of choice. So we were more than happy to work with the New Zealand Specialty Coffee Association on a new identity.
We love a good roast

It’s true, 3 out of 4 peninsulas prefer Miramar. For some time Gas has worked with Enterprise Miramar on a destination brand for the Peninsula. From logo creation to a printed guide and postcards, we’ve looked to put Miramar on the map, with a map. A big thanks to Stephen Templer for the illustration.
Who is Mister D?

We’ve just finished work on the fitout and design for a new Napier cafe / restaurant called Mister D Dining. Food by the very talented David Griffiths, font of house by Prue Barton and Dan Tosswill. We got to finally use a Prouve chair in a restaurant too.

Some recent work for Geraldine Booth. Kieran Rynhart did the illustrations, Charles Smith and Magpie Press did the printing (offset and letterpress respectively), Jon Wall made the website work (geraldinebooth.co.nz) and Gas took all the credit.
Here’s one I made earlier

Mt Riley are Marlborough winemakers and a really lovely family who’ve become friends. We did this logo for them a couple of years ago, but as is not the case with a lot of old work, we still really kinda like it.

The Roxy cinema is the best thing to happen to Miramar since Weta decided to build some studios there 20 years ago. Owned by a passionate group of locals with backgrounds in film and hospitality, the cinema and restaurant, CoCo, have become the centre piece of entertainment on the Peninsula. Gas were stoked to be asked to work with such a talented group of people, and designed identities for the cinema and restaurant, menus, website and a number of other items. We’re big fans of the Platter and the back row.

Here’s to the Crazy One.
The misfit. The rebel. The troublemaker. The round peg in the square hole.
The One Who Saw Things Differently.
He wasn’t fond of rules. And he had no respect for the status quo.
You can quote him, disagree with him, glorify or vilify him. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore him. Because he changed things.
He pushed the human race forward. And while some may have seen him as the crazy one, we saw genius.
Because the man who was crazy enough to think he could change the world, was the one who did.

Check your nearest bookseller for Al Brown’s latest book, Stoked. It’s been a big year for Al, with a tv show (Get Fresh – with some Gas-influenced typography), Depot in Federal St and this little number, coming in at over 300 pages. We’re ‘Stoked’ to have had the opportunity to have again worked with Al, Kieran Scott (surely one of NZ’s best photographers) and the folk at Random House. Stoked. Get it while its hot.
Take a seat, Jean Prouve.

We recently worked with Al Brown (chef), Charlie Nott (architect) and Andrew Missen (furniture) to create a little bit of Wellington (via Melbourne) in downtown Auckland. Depot is a place to refuel for the working man (and woman).
