Here’s one I made earlier

Mt Riley are Marlborough winemakers and a really lovely family who’ve become friends. We did this logo for them a couple of years ago, but as is not the case with a lot of old work, we still really kinda like it.

Dinner and a show

The Roxy cinema is the best thing to happen to Miramar since Weta decided to build some studios there 20 years ago. Owned by a passionate group of locals with backgrounds in film and hospitality, the cinema and restaurant, CoCo, have become the centre piece of entertainment on the Peninsula. Gas were stoked to be asked to work with such a talented group of people, and designed identities for the cinema and restaurant, menus, website and a number of other items. We’re big fans of the Platter and the back row.

Depot

We recently worked with Al Brown (chef), Charlie Nott (architect) and Andrew Missen (furniture) to create a little bit of Wellington (via Melbourne) in downtown Auckland. Depot is a place to refuel for the working man (and woman).

Everything’s Good

The French Baker is heading north. Not content with just shifting homes and putting the kids into a new school, they are setting up a new bakery and cafe in Hastings AND Havelock North, while running the Greytown business remotely. GAS worked up a new logo for the newly named business Y’abon, which is slang for ‘everything’s fine’. More to come. Thanks to Mr Cheeseman for inspiration.

Polo anyone?

Cafe Polo is one of our favourite cafes that also happens to be very close to home. Named after the old Polo Grounds in Miramar, the cafe serves great coffee and has an excellent bistro-style lunch and dinner menu. We’ve just finished updating the look of their website using found images based on local history and their location (next to a bus stop and near the Weta studios). Time for a cuppa.

Lucky

These letterpressed gift vouchers have just arrived for Nikau Cafe from the talented folks at Magpie Press in Auckland. ‘Lucky’ type by the equally gifted Sarah Maxey to match the coffee cups produced earlier this year. Available in 20s and 50s, a couple of these will keep you in coffee and Kedgeree for a while.

Gas have an office in Lyall Bay. Which is near Miramar. Which has a new cinema, Roxy. Which we were lucky enough to work on. But we’ve also been busy on identifying Miramar Peninsula as a destination for business, tourism and a nice flat white. We worked with Ocean Design and one of their designers, Matt Bluett on the execution. Kinda launched in last Saturday’s DomPost. Much, much more to come.

Gas hits the road

Well that’s not exactly true, but the new designed bike kit for the WheelWorks racing team is finished and being worn with shaven-legged style all over town. Now we just have to work on a Colnago bike sponsorship deal to match the uniform.
